More Daily Sketches

It’s been a struggle to keep these daily sketches up this past week, first due to busy-ness and then due to being sick … I seem to have caught the flu 🙁

Though I would probably consider this more a painting than a sketch, I am going to count it as a sketch since it was a practice piece created under the watchful eyes of my watercolour teacher at my lesson last Monday. I’m pleased with how it turned out and am excited to practice more skies.

This next piece was another wet in wet practice exercise from a tutorial given me by my teacher, done in my sketchbook.

I wasn’t terribly pleased with it, so I redid the exercise on better paper. I’m still not overly pleased with it, so I may try it again.

The second version...more painting than sketch I think.

I am having way too much fun painting imaginary sketchy people! They are becoming my “go to subject” when I can’t think of anything else to sketch…and I know the practice will come in handy when I start doing more urban sketching once the weather warms up.

I have a little bonzai tree that I sketched from life. Was running out of time, so the sketch has far fewer leaves than the tree has in real life!

I have been thinking about continuing my acrylic “Journey” series with my little girl (aka everywoman/man) and her teddy in either graphite or watercolour. I’ve been playing with the idea of replacing the teddy’s balloon (aka inner happiness) with a lantern … the concept being that the little girl is following her inner light … aka her intuition … aka the part of ourselves that knows the Truth … aka Divine Spirit 🙂 Still thinking about it, and so I sketched out a couple of my thoughts….

Wasn’t feeling at all well, so had a cup of tea and sank myself into one of my greatest childhood comforts — drawing horses and unicorns 😀

I canceled my watercolour class this week because of how I was feeling, but I’ve got a book of watercolour tutorials by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law and decided to explore it. I just love her style, as well as her fantastical subject matter. This is one of the tutorials from her book (except I decided to ink my seahorse).

Think I will spend the rest of the week cuddled with Flirt in a blanket, with lots of hot tea, homemade chicken soup, and time to play in my sketchbooks 🙂
