The Gray Wolf, also known as the Timber Wolf, is a native species in Canada and is found in every province and territory, except for Prince Edward Island.

The wolf is a top predator and plays a crucial role to a thriving ecosystem, yet they’re only protected by law in Canada within provincial parks. Sadly, they are hunted throughout the country all year, even during breeding, birthing and pup seasons.

In 2015, to protect endangered caribou, the BC government initiated a wolf cull program, but the caribou continue to decline, due mainly to habitat loss from logging, not from wolf predation.
