Did you know that the Common Raven is the largest of all the songbirds?! Yes, Ravens are songbirds! Ravens are extremely vocal and, while their most frequent cry is a harsh, croaking call, they can produce a diverse range of calls and sounds, each of which serves a different purpose. There are alarm calls, comfort sounds, hunting calls, and calls designed for advertising territories. Ravens are also able to mimic sounds they hear within their habitat, including other animals and human voices and even inanimate objects! The reason they have this ability is not yet well understood.
