"May you soar on eagle wings, high above the madness of the world."
― Jonathan Lockwood Huie.

The Bald Eagle is a large North American raptor which is found from northern Canada and Alaska to as far south as northern Mexico. Most of Canada’s Bald Eagles are in British Columbia along the coast; however, large populations may also be found in the forests of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. It’s thought that Bald Eagles mate for life and their nests are the largest built by any bird in North America. The same nest is used repeatedly by the mated pair over many years and, with new material added each year, mostly branches, the nests may eventually grow to span up to 10 feet across, 20 feet deep and weigh as much as 5000 lbs! Bald Eagles usually raise only 1 to 3 babies every year … so it’s a very large and sturdy home for such a tiny family! The average lifespan of Bald Eagles in the wild is around 20 years, with the oldest confirmed having been 38 years of age at death.

Many thanks to Nicolas Dory for the kind permission to use his beautiful video footage as inspiration for this drawing.
