Gulls are a type of seabird, though they often live inland, far from any ocean or sea, and they’re found all over the world. There are fifty-four different known species of seagulls, ranging in size from the Little Gull at only 4.5 ounces and 11.5 inches long to the Great Black-backed Gull, weighing in at a hefty almost 4 lbs and 30 inches long! This one is a Ring-billed Gull, a very common species around Ottawa.
